Fareham

A garden gym that gets used at 6am

A full-width gym with the doors open onto the lawn, sized for free weights, a rack and cardio kit.

At 6m x 3.2m this is one of the larger footprints, and the floor structure matters as much as the walls: double joists at 600mm centres give a load capacity of over 300 kg per square metre, which is what lets you drop weights without worrying. Full-width sliding doors open the whole gable onto the garden for summer sessions.

Southampton

A second living room, ten steps from the back door

A relaxed lounge for evenings and teenagers, finished in pale Silver Birch with a warm interior.

The brief was somewhere to sit that was not the kitchen. Silver Birch cladding keeps it light against a small urban garden, and the insulated envelope plus double glazing means it is comfortable in the evenings through winter. Concealed wiring channels kept the sockets and spotlights tidy with no surface trunking.

Winchester

Building on a slope with a raised deck

A sloping plot solved with the composite post foundation system and a raised deck approach.

Chalk downland gardens rarely sit level. The foundation system uses heavy-duty composite posts concreted into the ground with a bolted stainless steel frame above, so the building is levelled off the slope rather than the slope being levelled first. That also leaves a ventilated void underneath, removing any risk of rising damp.

Portsmouth

Grey bifolds and a north-facing office

Grey-on-grey bifolds for a contemporary terrace garden, with glazing placed to avoid screen glare.

Tight coastal plots need everything to arrive in manageable panels and go through the house or a side alley, which is exactly how the kit is delivered. Granite cladding with matching grey bifolds suits the modern rear extension it sits behind, and the glazing was arranged so the desk faces away from direct glare.

Whiteley

The Astana roofline for a tight boundary

No overhang, clean lines and every millimetre of garden retained on a modern estate plot.

Newer estate gardens are generous in length but narrow. The Astana range has no roof overhang, so the building can sit closer to the fence line than the Abri, and at 2.5m high it stays inside permitted development limits within 2m of a boundary. Cedar cladding warms up an otherwise contemporary profile.

A dark, recessive finish that settles into a rural plot instead of competing with it.
